My cousin, Rachel (one of my favs) has been sick since St. Stephen's Day and on Wednesday night, here mother rang us because she was in the hospital on critical condition! A phone call i wasn't expecting...
The doctor on call was worried about her breathing and wanted her in hospital asap. They took her blood sugar levels and they were 40.1, the norm in between 5-7...panic stations!! The put her in Intensive Care in isolation because they hadn't ruled out swine flu at that point.
They were certain she had diabetes but they don't know which type, she has pneumonia though. The doctors said that if she wasn't brought out when she was, Rachel wouldn't be here today! That's a really scary thought and something that i don't wasn't to think about!!
Today when i got home, she tested positive for swine flu and her sugar levels are at 6 so that's a good thing!
She has a really long road ahead of her and will be in hospital for a few more weeks, but all signs are looking good :D
Great end to a fantastic year(!) Roll on 2011...cant be any worse!
Hope everyone has a good time tonight, and wishing light and love in the new year!
